Dark Meat finds its way in the touring world

No matter how you slice it, traveling with 20 people isn’t easy. Ask the members of Dark Meat, who, until recently, stuffed themselves in two passenger vans any time they hit the road for shows outside Athens. “Tempers can flare when you’re traveling constricted in a little ball,” says singer and guitarist Jim McHugh.
But as the band took off last week for Austin, Texas,’ South by Southwest music festival, they enjoyed a little more leg room. Riding for the first time in their recently-purchased 35-foot coach bus (bought from a diving expedition company that planned to use the vehicle for spare parts), the group enjoyed a much more comfortable voyage. Of course, they had new issues to deal with once arriving in Austin.
