Jazz trio The Bad Plus, above, comprised of bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson and drummer David King, mix rock and pop into its repertoire by mixing covers of popular songs into its progressive jazz sets. Tonight, the trio will perform tracks from its new album, “Prog,” to be released May 8, which features jazzy covers of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule the World,” David Bowie’s “Life on Mars,” Rush’s “Tom Sawyer” and Burt Bacharch’s “This Guy’s in Love with You,” in addition to original compositions.
