Hope for Agoldensummer has a new video for their song “Katelina.” It was filmed by Eikon Productions at various locations around Athens, including Sandy Creek Nature Park, Jeremy Ayer’s house near Daily Groceries, Thomas Peach Orchard on 441 South out of Athens, and Mr. Charlie’s Junk Store on 441 North out of Athens. Gretchen Phillips to play at UGA conference

Gretchen Phillips, an influential figure in lesbian rock music of the 1980s, will speak and perform at the Institute for Women’s Studies at the University of Georgia’s second annual conference on “Women, Rock and Politics.” The conference will begin at 4:30 p.m. May 30 in Edge Hall at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at UGA. In addition to a performance by Phillips, Fred Maus, music theory professor at the University of Virginia, will speak about the women of the B-52s, and the Girls Rock Camps Collective will give a presentation on “Creativity, Community and Confidence through Rock and Roll.”

On May 31, the conference will begin at noon at Tasty World. There will be panel discussions on women in hip-hop and experimental music, the Riot Grrl movement and women in rock in Latin America. The conference will close with a talk and performance by Phillips at 6 p.m. Conference events are free and open to the public.
