Morton’s double releases rock (and roll)
Sometimes Ken Will Morton plays quiet. Sometimes he plays big and loud. He could have settled for one or the other. Or put out a record that jarringly weaves between full-on rock and folk. Instead, he released two CDs simultaneously. “Kickin’ Out the Rungs” and “Devil in Me” hit the online music shelves at the end of June. The novelty of releasing two records at once caught the attention of music press ranging from American Songwriter to Vintage Guitar Magazine. “They’ve been talking about them both,” said Morton (performing Thursday at Terrapin Brewery). The albums were released by Rara Avis Records. Michelle Roche, who started off as Morton’s publicist and later ended up as his girlfriend, launched the label. Morton is its sole artist.
