It would have been hard for Rehab’s Danny Alexander to envision that a song he co-wrote a decade ago would not only have incredible endurance with listeners but also would open the door to a remarkable run in the music business. But such is the case with “Bartender Song (Sittin’ in a Bar),” which he composed with former Rehab member Jason Brooks (aka Brooks Buford) and Cody Chesnutt for one of the band’s early albums and re-recorded for Rehab’s latest release “Graffiti the World.” Although the hard-luck song immediately resonated with Rehab’s fan base years ago, it eventually found new life on jukeboxes throughout the country and became a closing-time anthem for first-time listeners, enabling Alexander - who visits the Georgia Theatre with Rehab on Friday - to rebuild his band and work his way back into music.
