CD Review: Dead Confederate’s ‘Wrecking Ball’

It has become band ‘lore, but it’s right there on Dead Confederate’s MySpace page: “Influences: On the Beach, Meddle, Bleach.” That would be, respectively, Neil Young’s “On the Beach,” Pink Floyd’s “Meddle” and Nirvana’s “Bleach” - three albums that provided a passion for which the Athens band reportedly based their formation. It’s one hell of a sonic witches’ brew, and on their debut full-length “Wrecking Ball” (released on Sept. 16), Dead Confederate do a sound job of selling it. Read the full CD review…
