Making the big-time press
A couple of Athens bands are gracing the pages of the current Rolling Stone magazine (May 27, Prince on the cover). The magazine gave three stars (and a photo, same one as at left) to Now It's Overhead's "Fall Back Open." The review: "More proof that Eighties synth-pop, rather than Eighties hardcore punk, is becoming the influence of choice for emo kids. The second album from this Athens, Georgia, quartet is packed with Cure-like swooning and rhythmic, Depeche Mode-y synth grooves. Overhead's moaning gets tiresome, but their guitar-driven numbers evince both impressive shoegazing atmospherics and a proclivity for nicely fey songwriting."
Also, Of Montreal's "Satanic Panic in the Attic" is No. 3 on the College Radio Chart as measured by CMJ Networks. And they got a picture as well! Pretty cool.
