An evening of real blues

Pinetop PerkinsThe legendary Pinetop Perkins, who's made a living playing traditional blues since 1926, will perform Saturday, May 7, at the Morton Theater as part of the Hot Corner Festival and Soul Food Feast. Perkins worked primarily in the Mississippi Delta, but also performed as Muddy Waters' piano man for more than a decade. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys this year, and his album "Ladies Man" was nominated in the Best Traditional Blues Album category.

Opening will be Blue South Recording artist EG Kight, who was recently nominated in two categories -- Contemporary Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year -- for the 25th Annual W.C. Handy Blues Awards. Sounds like it'll be a great evening of the blues. Showtime is 9 p.m.; $12.50 advance and $18 at the door.
