Little Feat, Bright Eyes

Little Feat Feat on their toes: In 1969, after the briefest of tenures with Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, guitarist Lowell George formed Little Feat (coming to Melting Point next Tuesday) with ex-Mothers bassist Roy Estrada, drummer Richie Hayward and pianist Bill Payne. Full story.

Waking up to Bright Eyes: During the height of the Emo breakout, bands such as Fugazi, Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estate were more akin to the genre than some of today's offerings. Today Emo struggles to keep one step away from Saturday morning cartoons while posturing for the next MTV reality series or - even worse - "Last Call with Carson Daly." But on Jan. 25, one of the genre's other breakouts, Nebraska's Bright Eyes (coming to the Georgia Theatre next Wednesday), simultaneously released two completely different albums like polar opposite twins.
