'I AM 99X' donates to Nuçi's

Atlanta’s Everything Alternative 99X and the "I AM 99X" Foundation has delivered a generous donation of over $6,500 worth of music equipment to the local nonprofit musicians’ center Nuçi’s Space. Each year the "I AM 99X" Foundation contributes to selected nonprofits during a specified petitioning period. After a presentation from Nuçi’s Space, the Foundation’s advisory board decided to make Nuçi’s Space one of its 2005 beneficiaries.

With the assistance of Guitar Center in Atlanta, 99X was able to provide Nuçi’s Space with a complete wish list of needed equipment. The donated gear includes microphones, speakers, CD players, cymbals, P.A.’s and guitar amps. The equipment will be used in the Space’s four climate-controlled practice rooms as well as during benefit shows that take place in the main stage area.

Nuçi’s Space is a nonprofit musicians’ resource center based in Athens, GA dedicated to the physical, emotional and professional well-being of area musicians and artists. The Space was founded by the family of 22-year old musician and University of Georgia student Nuçi Phillips, who committed suicide in 1996. The Space provides low-cost professional counseling for depression to musicians and artists in need of therapy.

The "I AM 99X" Foundation was started in 2002 and since its inception has donated over $1 million to local charities including the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Upper Chattahoochee River Keeper, Atlanta Ballet and CARE – Tsunami Relief.
