First-ever South African shows rock

The band is playing its first South African shows ever, and after the opening two nights in Cape Town, Bertis writes, "Two tremendous shows in front of some of the most enthusiastic, raucous crowds R.E.M. has ever seen (and heard)." They'll play shows in Durban and Johannesburg before heading to Japan for the Asian leg of their tour.

The Durban gig was brilliant with as enthusiastic a crowd as the other SA shows. Despite the rain and thethreat of a storm the crowd had a great time and the band even played some Creedence for us. Any chance of getting the set list up for that anytime soon?
